Nickel and lead free. Gold filled jewellery is also known as rolled gold or gold bonded and is created by mechanically bonding a layer of gold to a layer of base metal - usually brass. The outer gold layer must be at least 1/20 of the overall metal content by weight. Therefore it makes a great alternative to gold plating, which is thinner and less durable.
